NB: Mice carry a variety of diseases, and should never be handled without protection. To minimise distress to captured mice, traps must be checked regularly (preferably every 2 hours), and should not be left overnight.
The Animal Welfare Act 2006 states that a humane trap must be checked at least twice a day, and following the capture of a live rodent, they should be disposed of in a humane way or released into the wild. If these rules are not adhered to this may be considered illegal. If you are unsure how to deal with a captured pest, contact DEFRA, RSPCA or your local vet.
